France Allows Les Miserables Sequel

France’s highest appeals court says it will allow a modern sequel to Victor Hugo’s classic “Les Miserables”. The author’s great great grandson says he’s bitterly disappointed in the decision. “I am not just fighting for myself, my family and for Victor Hugo but for the descendants of all writers, painters and composers who should be protected from people who want to use a famous name and work just for money.”

Broadway At The Cineplex?

Canada’s largest movie theatre chain has had great success showing the live Metropolitan Opera broadcasts. So Cineplex wants to start showing other live events, perhaps starting with Broadway shows. “I would love to see Broadway productions on screen, and I think our audiences would as well. It’s absolutely in our strategic plan.”

Owner Disputes “Pollock” Analysis

The owner of three paintings he says are by Jackson Pollock is disputing a scientific analysis of the works that suggests they are not. “The authentication of works of art is still more art than science. The point is that the science of attribution is still in flux, and no scientific test is definitive in the absence of traditional, time-tested art historical research.”
